The MATERIA Group is a private sector social enterprise for elderly care, providing a full range of care, rehabilitation, and nursing services in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The services MATERIA offers include physiotherapy, cognitive enhancement therapy, art therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy, assistive technology support, nutritional counseling, home care, psychosocial support and counseling, caregiver training programs, transportation services for people with mobility problems etc. The management and operations team follows an interdisciplinary approach, aiming at providing the best services for the end-user and their families. MATERIA is also a recognized training center for health and social science students from all universities in Nicosia. It has a growing research department specializing in EU funded projects relating to ageing, disability, public health, and social inclusion.
The MATERIA Group owns two fully-equipped facilities (90 beds, to be expanded to 120) providing 24hr nursing care in different areas of the capital city. They are operated by a multi-disciplinary team which includes doctors, nurses, gerontologists, clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, sociologists, speech therapists, music and drama therapists, social workers, finance managers, accountants, as well as nursing staff of all levels.
Mrs. Marina Polycarpou is the CEO of the MATERIA Group. She is a gerontologist and psychologist. She studied at the University of Kansas, USA and the Kings’ College in London, UK. She is also a clinical lecturer at St George’s Medical School, in the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. In the scope of the HERO project, she will be responsible for IO1.
Mrs. Andria Hadjicosta is a project officer in MATERIA. She holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Cyprus. She has been involved in various European research projects as a project officer. In the context of the HERO project, she will be responsible for IO1 and the day-to-day communication.
Mr. Evangelos Koulis works as a project officer in MATERIA. He holds a MA in International Relations from the University of Manchester, UK. He has been involved in various European research projects and is a board member of the Center for International Strategic Analyses in Athens, Greece. In the context of the HERO project, he will be responsible for IO1 and the day-to-day communication.
